Welcome to Hutchinson Evangelical Free Church

On the left side of this web page you will see a box titled “Links.”  At the top of that list is a new link titled, “The Gospel.”  This will connect you to a presentation of the Gospel called, “Two Ways to Live.”

“Two Ways to Live” is a memorable summary of the Christian Gospel in six main points.  This presentation by Matthias Media conveys the key information that the average non-Christian person needs to understand in order to become a Christian.  It does this in such a way that does not assume any prior knowledge or understanding of Biblical concepts.

I particularly appreciate “Two Ways to Live” because it starts with God, not man.  It presents the Gospel in context of the story line of the Bible including God’s creation, his right to rule, and how he responds in merciful grace to our rebellion; and it gives  clear and simple steps to take in a response of faith to the Lord.  Take a look at it.  I hope you like it.

Pastor's Message

Organic Discipleship

If you have been around HEFC long, you know that we talk about discipleship a lot. But we perhaps see discipleship different than others. We like to call it a “mosaic” approach. You have seen those walls with a design and when you got close it was a bunch of little pieces of stone or glass arranged by color to produce a grand effect. We see discipleship like this. The grand effect in our case is that we look like Jesus. But some will approach one way and others a different path. Dennis McCallum and his daughter Jessica Lowery call it Organic Disciplemaking. They say that there are no two disciples alike and no two disciplers. But like us, they have articulated a pattern in disciplemaking that include the following elements.

·       Friendship-building

·       A regular meeting time

·       A time of sharing and caring (accountability)

·       Studying the Bible together

·       Times of prayer

·       Helping each other through struggles with godly counsel.

·       Discovering ministries in the church or creating new ones in which to become involved.

·       Being a cheerleader to encourage using the gifts with which God has endowed them.

·       To encourage each other to reach out to others and disciple them.

As we continue to pursue Jesus Christ and making disciples, you will hear more about these elements and how to get involved in discipleship.
